Welcome to Swara!

Swara is a social enterprise with a clear mission: to create sustainable income opportunities for women artisans in India while championing ethical fashion. We’re passionate about creating unique and stylish clothing that truly resonates with our customers. You can learn more about Swara here.

As we navigate the world of fashion & social impact, we're on the hunt for a creative and enthusiastic individual to join our team temporarily. If you have a flair for marketing, a love for fashion and a passion for women empowerment, this role might just be the perfect fit! There’s potential for this position to grow into a full-time role if we see our revenue thrive over the next three months.

Role Overview

As our Marketing & Communications Coordinator, you’ll be at the heart of everything we do in marketing. Your skills will be crucial in helping us amplify our brand across social media, engage with influencers, and connect with the press. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves to take the lead and isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty. If you enjoy coming up with fresh ideas and making them happen, we’d love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Management:

  • Create and execute exciting content strategies for our Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and email newsletters.
  • Organise and oversee photoshoots from start to finish—this means coming up with concepts, scouting locations, and coordinating with photographers.
  • Write engaging captions that reflect our brand’s personality and ensure a consistent voice across all platforms.

Outreach and Earned Media:

  • Seek out and build relationships with bloggers, journalists, and influencers to boost our brand visibility.
  • Craft compelling press releases and pitch stories to media outlets, aiming to secure features and exciting collaborations.

Influencer Collaborations:

  • Manage partnerships with influencers, coordinating collaborations that showcase our clothing line.
  • Monitor campaign performance and engagement metrics to see what works and refine our approach.

Marketing Campaigns:

  • Help plan and execute creative marketing campaigns aimed at driving clothing sales, including seasonal promotions and special offers.
  • Oversee our newsletter marketing, ensuring we deliver timely and engaging content to our subscribers.

Offline Marketing Initiatives:

  • Explore and propose innovative offline marketing strategies, including community partnerships and events.
  • Recognise budget constraints and prioritise securing funding from external sources for these initiatives.
  • Example initiative: Organise a “Wonder Women Wednesday” dinner in Bangalore in collaboration with a female chef.
    • Structure the event to enable funding through customer participation rather than relying on an allocated budget.
  • Focus on brand building as the primary outcome of these events:
    • Position the brand as one that genuinely cares about women’s empowerment.
    • Promote ethical fashion and showcase Indian crafts as cool and desirable.
  • Ensure proposals include:
    • Potential partnerships.
    • Funding avenues.
    • Strategies for customer engagement to achieve our brand positioning goals

Support for Swara's Women & Travel Program:

  • Provide marketing and communications support for Swara's new Women & Travel program, focusing on empowering women through travel initiatives.
  • Promote the Wonder Women in Hospitality and CraftHER initiatives, ensuring they align with our brand values and messaging.
  • Develop targeted marketing strategies to enhance visibility and engagement for these initiatives, highlighting our commitment to women’s empowerment.
  • Identify potential partnerships and sponsorship opportunities to expand the reach of the Women & Travel program.
  • Track and report on the effectiveness of marketing efforts to inform future strategies and initiatives.

General Business Growth:

  • Take ownership of all marketing and communications functions, proactively identifying new opportunities for growth.
  • Work closely with the founder to align marketing efforts with overall business strategy and goals.

Qualifications

  •  Previous experience in marketing, communications, or a related field (internships included).
  • Solid understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • A creative mindset with experience in content creation (photography, writing, etc.).
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with fashion industry trends is a plus.

What We Offer

  • Hands-on experience in driving marketing and communications in the fashion industry.
  • The opportunity to make a real impact.
  • Potential for the role to transition into a full-time permanent position, depending on revenue growth during the contract period.
